A Morning Routine So Powerful

As I'm wrapping up my morning, I’m thinking about how helpful my morning routine is to my day. It really sets my day up for success!

My routine inspires me to feel productive, healthy, and like a 10/10! It sets the tone for the day that follows. And it guarantees I'm on the right track right when I hop out of bed in the early AM.

Now so, this routine isn’t a step by step process, honestly. I guess its more like a vibey ~ feel it out ~ process. But there are some non-negotiables

These non-negotiables are obviously hygiene. Clean body, clean mind, people. Brush your teeth, please! Morning breath is not cute. Next, wash your face! Splash some warm water on your face and clean those pores. Make it a daily (and nightly) discipline so you don’t need to spend ridiculous $$$ on skin care products you don’t actually need. Invest in a hydrating daily moisturizer. One that particularly fits your skin type. Hydrated skin = Beautiful skin. Add in that SPF. If it's going to be sunny out that day, add that SPF! I'll say it just one more time for the folks in the back... SPF it UP!

Here’s another non-negotiable. You probably need to start doing this asap. Start your day with a BIG glass of water. Yes, the biggest glass in your cabinet, fill it with water (maybe some ice) and chug it down. You just slept for (hopefully) 8 hours, and you're waking up SUPER dehydrated. Please chug that glass of water, refill it, and move on. Bonus: I’ve recently been re-obsessed with putting lemon in my water. It’s so refreshing and tasty, especially first thing in the morning. And I believe it truly helps with digestion. You don't need a lot of lemon, just a wedge, and it'll make a big difference for your morning ~ vibey ~ routine.

Our final non-negotiable. Get out of your pajamas. Put on some workout clothes. Whether you're planning to workout that morning or not, put on something that is going to motivate you (even if you hate the idea of it at the time). Don't put on baggy sweat pants or last night's sweatshirt, put on something clean, realistic, and comfortable. Now so, I’d encourage you to workout right about now, but I know that's not everyone's ideal. So, try to keep a mental reminder that activity should come sometime in the following hours

Moving on to some negotiable additions, here are a few things I find myself doing in the mornings that really help me feel my best.

I make myself a nice small cup of coffee in my favorite mug. And I'll add some ice to make it ~ iced coffee ~ which someone recently told me is “soo new england.” Hmm. But for real, I need caffeine to get the ball rolling, so I caffeinate! If coffee is not for you, maybe a cup of hot or iced tea is. I used to love making the Tazo Hibiscus Tea over ice (hello starbucks, im a barista now) for a non-caffeinated delicious beverage. Any sort of fun beverage that makes you feel extra good in the morning, add it in now!

Next, I reach for my morning serving of fresh fruit. Today it was a handful of strawberries. Yesterday was a small plate of pre-cut papaya. Adding fruit to your morning routine is so helpful for your digestive tract. It will nourish your body from the inside out. I convince myself my morning fruit is just like a multivitamin and prebiotic combo in one. Now that's not really scientifically true… BUT the placebo effect is real. It makes me get it done - because I know its good for me.

When I really want to feel EXTRA inspired and motivated, I get myself ginger shots and probiotic shots ahead of time to add to my morning routine. Now, you may find yourself questioning… Why is a powerful morning routine so important? 


Ask yourself this. When you press snooze, delay your morning, roll out of bed, and fluster through everything right onto To-Do List #1… doesn’t it feel kinda yucky? You know, it feels like mehh.

I have a question for you… Don’t you think you deserve better? What if you felt like a million bucks by the time To-Do List #1 crept up on you. Would you enjoy it more?

I think you would.

Our morning routines set the stage for the remainder of our day. It's important to always put our best foot forward, especially in the morning. 

Let's imagine: What if you approached your daily tasks by storm, with confidence and thrill. Knowing you can do it all, and do it quite well. The way we hold ourselves, prioritize ourselves, and have our own backs in the morning can do wonders on how the rest of our day plays out.

Be the main character. It matters more than you realize. As my 8th grade history teacher always said, “it's all connected.” And when it comes to wellness - it really all is.
